 A Morning Walk

A morning walk is a light healthy exercise and is one of the most efficacious treatments for the diseased and the weak. It has rightly been called the queen of exercises. It asks for no expenditure and is open to all shades and ages. It infuses new energy into our veins and nerves and we feel strong both physically and mentally.

The morning air is fresh and free from dust. I get up early in the morning. After having answered the call of nature, I dressed myself and went out for a walk in the company of my friend, Suresh, who is equally eager to have a morning walk. We walked through the main street of the city and soon reached the open fields by the riverside.

On our way, we see vegetable sellers with carted loads of vegetables going to the city and the milkmen with fresh milk and curd pots running for sale to some fixed places. Even shopkeepers, like bakers, are busy with their work very early in the morning. We also notice cars and tongues flying past on the roads in quick succession. The ringing of the bells and the blowing of couches are very charming. In nearly gardeners the flowers are seen fresh and fascinating. The birds there are busy singing their beautiful songs from the early dawn.

Soon after, we went into the open fields. There we see the farmers with ploughs on their shoulders, driving the oxen towards their farms and fields. It is a pleasant sight to see the green fields on both sides of the road. Crops wave gently in the morning breeze. Dew drops on soft and green grass look like pearls. The rustling of leaves and the sweet noises of the birds add to the beauty of the scene. Happy light drifts of fresh morning breeze appear very lovely.

The sight in the morning is worth seeing and enjoying. For persons interested in nature, it contains myriads of feelings and sensations to convey.

Slowly and gradually, we came to the riverside. There we had a rest for some time. We watch the river as its water flows gently producing rice here and there. The fresh air there refreshes us. It tones up our system and makes us fit for the day's work. Soon the sun rises from the east. The horizon gets a coating of reddish-yellow. Everything looks bright and beautiful. There we see people busy bathing in the river and chatting with their friends. As usual, we also put off our clothes and bathe in the river to our satisfaction. We feel light and refreshed. We then returned home full of joy and began our day's work.
